Ade,thanks for the info, very interesting ,i have afriend on the police firearms team who might be able to tell me if the weapon now resides in the firearm stores, when i was firearms trained i remember that there were a number of rare weapons that were kept and sometimes fired on the range, they had at that time a walther P38,,an M1carbine, luger, mp40, and a thompson along with some other pistols ,but only the instructors were allowed to fire these, rotten buggers

An interesting weapon, one of many 'last ditch' designs by the Germans at that stage. I believe the delayed blowback system would have been unreliable and prone to residue fouling over any sustained use-rather like the G41 W rifle which used a similar annular gas tapping system. As to 'being made up for criminal use'-Fritz Saukel-enough said.

Bringing this old thread back up as i just found some rare newsreel footage of this weapon in used on the Frankfurt Oder front in 1945. Seen at 53 seconds into the film.

Also shown and boxed MP44's being unloaded from a truck.

    Enjoy.

Great footage Ade! What gets me is the poor guys armed only with a 'faust. Once they've fired their weapon, what were they supposed to do? (other than die)
