Anyone help identify the weapon? please

Sorry I can't be of any more help...but at least we know it's a Mauser.

any idea what caliber or if i need a magazine and thanks for the help everyone

Thanks guys I am now pretty sure the wood around the barrel has been shortened

It's probably an 8mm....although some Mausers were re-bored to chamber NATO 7.92... The Mauser has it's own 5-round magazine (the part that's coming out of the bottom, with the spring). But if you intend on firing this thing, I must advise you to have a gunsmith take a look at it...The wrong ammo or a faulty part can cost you dearly...

If it has not been rechambered to a different caliber,it will be 7mm x 57mm mauser.
