    The Broad Arrow with the "U" would indicate South African issue.

    As previously posted by Adrian, they are VSM marked (Vickers Sons and Maxim) Vickers MG barrels which have seen South African service, they were probably surplus when South Africa converted there guns to 7.62mm.
