Thanks, the open sided magazine should be easy to spot, now I need to look for a safety too. and the main spring is broken, there was a reason it was cheap, but it still displays nicely.

I would like to commend the format of this forum, after I posted this thread, the forum gave me a selection of related threads, one was Kanister's thread on his 1915s, and from that I was able to deduce that I had the wrong safety and get an idea of the manufacture date.
