Can I replace the magazine on a deactivated gun ?

Article about: Thanks Adrian just wanted to check ! Do you know where I may be able to get a spare mag ?

    This seems like a pathetic question however I have just brought my 10 th Deac and I as shocked at how unsymtheticly it has been deactivated it has no moving parts Only a folding but stock but they have even cut the lips of the mag to stop it Golding rounds so can I replace the mag ?

    Not yet it's not arrived if you type it I'n to google the one I brought is on there ! But I just wanted to know wether by changing a mag that has been altered by the proof house would I be bracking the law ?

    Not at all, there is nothing in the deactivation standards that say magazines have to have work done to them so they cannot hold rounds. I would find it very unusual if there are proof stamps on the magazine to be honest.

    Ok maby it was just some one who was mad ! I was a bit shocked my self that the cut the mag ? I'll keep it but I have my guns mags full with inert bullets just for display really will it bje hard tomfund a replacement ?

    For the particular (former) weapon you have bought, I think that it will be quite difficult to find a replacement magazine as there arent a lot of Universal's in the UK.

    This trend of cutting away the feed lips on mags is not a legal requirement, but it is done if the gun is submitted for proof if the mag is left in place. Simply a case of things being done "over the top". No problem at all to replace this with a correct unmodified example as these are sold freely.
