Looks like from a k98. Can you see a WaA Stamp?

Thanks glenn and der sturmer, after close inspection i found F77 and imperial acceptance stamp so probably mauser. Interesting find this one, found behind wooden panelling during renovation of building in trinity college dublin, possibly something to do with mausers landed at howth for 1916 rising who knows, all the best willie.

Not the Howth Mausers-they were old M1871 11mm single shot rifles with very different sights.

The sight could have been a souvenir of the Great War-it takes some effort to remove it from the rifle.

it's off a kar98a . Nothing rare and fairly easy to remove.

Not the sort of thing you'd want to do as replacing it would require rezeroing the rfle-sort of thing only an armourer would do.
