After an hour of scrubbing, getting my boxers dirty (no I did not wet my pants and yes I cleaned it in my underwear) I can say that comsoline is the devil. I got the most of it off, but there are still some, especially inside the tube that is hard to get into. This stuff works wonders thoe! Thank you guys for recommending it!

Do you guys know, how I could get the comsoline off from the gun barrel, that I highlighted. It's such an hard area to get into.

DIESEL!!!!!!! It takes cosmoline off and will not cause any harm to the metal of finish!!!!!!!
    It works like a charm!!!!!!
The only problem with WD40 is when it dries out. It will leave a gummy sticky residue.
At one time WD 40 was used as a Jet engine preservative for long time storage until they found that it would evaporate and leave the residue. Then you had to take the entire engine apart and clean all the residue off prior to assembly and use!!!!
Back to your PaPaShaw. It looks like a beauty!!!!!
I have shot the polish post war version and just loved it and that 72 round drum was just awesome! It sure was a BURP gun!!!!!!!
