This may be an obvious question, but did the SS stamp their weapons? I do have some SS marked 7.92 cases, but ive not seen an SS marked rifle or anything?
You get SS marked handguns for certain, though off the top of my head I can't remember about other weapons.

    Jerry

    Whatever its just an opinion.

If you ever see "SS Runes in a diamond" they are 100% fake.

Deathshead stamp require a close up view. Naturally these are mega faked...

Cheers Ade, re the SS stamped MG42 i was looking at last week

Strange isn't it really, obviously the SS were frowned upon in the 30's by the Wehrmacht, hence they had their own budgets and had their own ammo and other items produced and stamped up accordingly. Is it just a question of finance that they did not produce their own weapons or commission their own?

Hi, I don't like to put words in people's mouths: but I think our forum friend means the wood, while original, has had bogus stamps added to it.

That would certainly be my opinion of it.

    Cheers, Ade.
I am with Ade on this subject, bogus stamp added postwar

The book "Backbone of the Wehrmacht" shows the exact same deathhead stamp on page 301
On the left side of the shown example is a BSW stamp and a commercial eagle/N stamp.
I am not saying that is a original 98K, even when pictured in books

As said before this stamps where made and used on a lot of 98K to hump them up in price
    So be carefull ...
