    Hi Mate,

I was indeed going after a “worn” rifle, instead of one of the never issued No4MK2s which are pretty common on the market over here.

This rifle has spent some time in India, (based on the Ishapore screw in the stock) and was given a Micrometer sight sometime after the wars end I assume.

Otherwise, it was exactly what I wanted, a Mid war production No4Mk1, from one of the Royal Ordinance Factories.

I’ve also got a No1Mk3*, I will post pictures of it in just a minute.

No1Mk3* Made by Enfield in 1917, still had a barrel full of grease in it and grease all over the rifle.

No Import marks (Im in the US) but it did have a missing piece of wood on the right side in front of the bolt handle. Doesnt concern me too much, as I just wanted a Non sporterized No1Mk3 to go with my No4Mk1

    Cheers

That kind of damage is common and fixable. It's one of the most common repairs to the stock of the Mk3 rifles, the Aussies reinforced their Mk3 rifles with 1 or 2 threaded brass wires in this area, that stopped the cracking.

Yep, i’ve looked into repairing it myself and it seems like a relatively easy repair.

I just lack the tools at the moment to properly splice it.

Hi Dave, they are both splendid rifles. I personally prefer the sights of the no4, as they seem easier to bring up and get a good sight picture on than the no1. Either way, both rifle has seen harsher environments than i ever will, so that in itself speaks for itself.
