German machine gun

Hi
Im new on here and hoping you can help me. Ive just acquired through a friend what looks like a German mp40, but the bolt is on the wrong side and the magazine is curved on it. the main markings on the top are e-84335 it says on it M56. can anyone help me on this?

Hello Kherno,

You should call this M56 a sub-machinegun. A machine gun usually fires rifle ammo. SMG's fire pistol ammo.

This 9mm Parabellum M56 is based on the MP40 design, hence the likeness!

Hi !

Originally the Zastava 1956 Pattern submachine gun fires the soviet Tokarev M1930 7.62x25 round, also, the Mauser 7,63x25 round.
