Identify Drum Magazine

Article about: Hello All, I am trying to find information on the magazine that I recently acquired. The individual I got this from said her father had a tag attached to it at one time describing the piece

Not DPM either, it's so close to a K and Bren drum that it must be of commonwealth origin.
On seeing this the other day I immediately thought possibly Indian made, but then couldn't find anything on the net to support that.
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
Last Entry - For God's sake look after our people.'

In memory of Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans. South Pole Expedition, 30th March 1912.

Here is one that looks very similar - including the rivets:
Vickers Class K / GO machine gun in "land service" modification, with stock, bipod and magazine:
It is the second firearm from the top - enlarge the pic.
Modern Firearms - Vickers G.O. / VGO / Class K machine gun (UK)
    A magazine:
Drum magazine : .303 inch Vickers 'K' or 'GO' gun | Australian War Memorial

Yours is obviously missing the center plate and "winding" arm - and the leather handle attaches in a different place.
But - quite similar no - 97 round cap.

Google Vickers GO magazine - image search.

Edit - some better pics of the Vickers GO - close but no cigar methinks -

Was there a drum mag for the Vickers-Berthier used by the Indian army as a Bren equivalent before and during the war?

It is similar to the drum magazine used on the Beardmore-Farquhar LMG.

Loved looking that one up, thank you, this is why this sort of exercise is fun - not quite it though, IMO - check out the rivet placement.

It may have started as a Bren mag but as said previously it certainly won't fit anymore.

I've compared to a VB and a Besal and it's neither of those.

Pretty sure it's the drum for a .303 Hefah Mk1.....looks like it's missing the winding key and some internals.....
