identifying revolver

I would like help identifying a revolver that was handed down through my wife's family. It is stamped 1916 with cryllic writing. She was told that an Uncle took it from a German soldier.

Can you be more specific, jtr1963? On a long shot, you probably have a Russian Nagant (cyrillic writing). Check if it's a seven shooter. If you can't post photos of it, try photos of Nagant revolver in the web;

As Thanos says it would be a Russian Imperial made Nagant M1895 pistol in 7.62mm calibre-the standard Russian/Soviet handgun made from 1895 to 1945.

1916 dates M1895 nagant revolver its not a tulu or Izhevsk marked

Do you know what the writing is above the 1916 mark?

it will be the name of the factory but i can't read russian so i can't help you there sorry
