Inglis Mk I* Hi Power Rig

I look for many years for an Inglis Hi Power that wasn't refinished. I finally found one at The Phoenix, AZ SAR Show. I wish it still had the decal on the grip but at least I have one now.

Great pistol. Nice to see it with the shoulder stock/holster as well !
The tangent sight type are my favorite. This version was also
made for the Chinese Government..........

Very nice example of Inglis HP...The maple-leaf water-decal usualy was vanishing or chipped off after some handling...
I always though wanted to ask this : What's this 'cut' behind the step on the slide ?

On the right side of the slide in front of the ejection port is a circular recess.
When you lock the slide in the rear position for take-down/disassembly,
this recess will line up with the slide release lever post. You can see
this 'button' end of the lever between the serial numbers.

When the 'button' is pressed, the lever sticks out of the left side of the
pistol, and when it is removed - with care as the slide is under
pressure - the slide can then be slid off the frame.........

Sam, I have just had a closer look at the serial number on your pistol, and I am
100% positive that it is indeed a Chinese contract piece. I've also read that
many of these were issued to Canadian and British troops.

It is a ' Mk 1* ' model, which went through minor modifications to improve
the weapon. These guns do not have Chinese characters on the right
side of the slide, seen on earlier ' Mk 1 ' pistols.

As well, your shoulder stock was made by S.A. LTD. which is
'Small Arms Limited' in Long Branch, Ontario.

Thanks again for the info on the Mk I*

. I did not know it was Chinese contract. I looked in the Collector Grade Publication on Hi Powers and thought it was a Canadian contract Hi Power. I guess I should pay more attention to these things but I have to many to research them all and little time to do it. I'll have to read the book again and update my notes.

One would think that being a former Physics teacher I would do my research more carefully. Must be a result of "Agent Orange" as they said in the Gene Hackman movie about rescuing the POW's left behind in Viet Nam. I could think of a lot more silly excuses but in reality I think I am just getting to old. LOL.

Lol, one would think that someone so enamoured with the Browning Hi-Power
as myself, would have purchased a gorgeous dead mint Inglis pistol
when I had the chance 20 years ago - for $500.

All finish, as well as the decal intact.........!
