I got the chance to fire my WWI M1891 Carcano TS today! In general, it performed well -- the bolt especially cycled smoothly!

As expected, the worn out barrel caused the rounds to key hole slightly

Hi Joe, the old lady performed well.

It must have been a special moment for you knowing that your Granddad used one of these in anger.

    Cheers, Ade.

Thanks, gentlemen! It really was a surreal moment... I'm proud to have been able to semi restore (clean it up/ get the hand guard fixed) this piece of history and get a chance to shoot it! I'd like to mount this rifle alongside my bisnonno's medals and I'd like to acquire an Italian WWI helmet to go along with the grouping!

I got an m91 sling, but it is too wide for the sling mounts. The search continues!

Had some beautiful weather today and attached a proper sling to my World War I vintage Carcano.

Not that I can see. I've been told that metal scabbards are proper for this type of bayonet.
