Its the Portuguese National crest, what a beauty. I love it.

The crest on the top cover is a Steyr-Solothurn crest. I have one with the Portuguese crest and is exactly the same crest you see on the Portuguese contact 98k's sold to Portugal some of which were held back by the German's.

Thanks Guys. it is a very nice looking piece.
The old way of dewating a weapon is very different than todays way in Canada, now they have to be an anchor, nothing moving ect.
However a few years ago it was much easier to dewat a weapon...this one was done awhile ago, so if I was to sell it, then I would have to update the dewat.

I have an ex-Portuguese MP34 that has a greenish parkerized finish - does anyone know if they were supplied with this from the factory for certain orders?
