Thanks, Paul! Again beautiful rifle you've got there!

I finally have some free time now (super busy weekend) so I think I am going to work on removing some cosmoline from my new rifle. I have been told that the sling on my rifle now may be original... just modified post war. I am not sure if I will keep this sling, or get a new one.

Can anyone offer any advice on how to get these two barrel bands off? When I unscrew them, they're still too narrow in diameter to slide down the stock. Do I pry them open...? Sorry for the horribly simple question... I just don't want to mess things up.

I shot my new Enfield for the first time yesterday. It was great, EXCEPT for the spring for the extractor claw. It's either missing or completely worn out. Spent cartridges wouldn't fly out when I cycle the bolt, so I'd either have to turn the rifle up-side-down and shake it, or use a flat head screw driver to gently pull the cartridges out of the chamber.

Here is a video of the first shots I took with my rifle. As you can see, I noticed the extractor problem within a few shots:

Works like a dream now. Super rifle to shoot IMO.

    Cheers, Ade.

I believe it is actually a military sling, although it has been shortened and sewn together.
