Default M1 Garand at Arundel Militaria ?

    Hello!
I'm looking to buy a deactivated M1 Garand, and I found this page:
Arundel Militaria (Deactivated Springfield M1 Garand - Allied Deactivated Guns - Deactivated Guns)

Witch had a M1 Garand as you see to the price of £495.00, well my question is, have anyone been buying with these guys?

Is the rifle a repro or original, is there any way for me to check if it has been used in WW2, Korea or Vietnam?

    Thank you

    -Normandie

Well, so it's a safe place to buy stuff from?
Anyone else got any opinions on this place?

OK to deal with from what I have heard.

I'd feel safe, they have been at it for years and everything is described nice and clearly.

That receiver was built after the Korean war ended, between may and june 1954. For a WWII rifle, for springfield armory, anything under 388xxxx

" " Pete has beaten me to it ! This was made just after the Korean War.
The problem for me is, it's condition is rather poor. It is very well used.
There is no Parkerizing left on the upper barrel and barrel bands.

I suppose M1 Garands are not all that common in England, but to me
the price is too high - then again, I am not familiar with pricing on
deac Garands lately to say. M1's were available here about
15 years ago or so, in similar condition but shootable
    for $199.........

sorry about that Steve hehe this one has seen alot of use, some of the Greek used M-1s and almost all of the Korean used M-1s I've seen looked like this one or worse. With the gas tube being a kind of stainless steel, it didn't take or hold the finish all that well, so they get shiny faster than the rest of the metal. There are so many parts for these still around, I think alot of people dress them up after they get them, but I still like the "used" look better. Alot of them in circulation now have gone through the CMP(Civilian Matksmanship Program), so they've been taken apart, inspected and put back together again with the parts not necessarily from the same rifle as it was before the inspection. The prices are up a bit now, most start around $650

I suppose one could repaint or replace the bare metal parts.........!

    A Springfield Armory rework or 'CMP' Garand ( $700 in 1987 ):
