This is the earlier pattern ammo tin with plain un-embossed sides and rivetted construction.

Again aresnal repainted. Original darker paint can be seen here and there, where the top layer of newer paint has chipped off. Inside is a mint condition steel belt wrapped in waxed paper.

    Cheers, Ade.

Thanks for all the help everyone.Ade, I bought my gun from Tony Budge last weekend at Chatham.I think the Finns used condenser cans, which look like WW1 German MG08 cans.In addition to the tool kit, thanks for the pic, did they carry a spare feedblock or lock as per Vickers? The ammo cans without the embossed star, are they early imperial or could they be Finnish? As soon as I get all the cosmoline off, I'll take some pictures.Pete.

Hi Pete, my pleasure and I look forwards to seeing your Maxim. They are such good value for money.

Re the feedblocks etc, i don't know about that one? But here is an illustration taken from the 1939 manual which might show one.

The ammo cans are Imperial or pre war or so I am told.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Hi Guys

"Yes! I too fully endorse Ryton Arms for all your de-act needs, friendly, quality products and fair prices!" ...... Most of my collection came from there.

(Thats got to be worth 10% off a PPSH for christmas wouldnt you say? )

    Good thread this, thanks all.

    Reg
