    Joe,
Look at the grasping groves on the photo and compare it to your rifle. You will notice they are very sharp as opposed to the slightly rounded ones on your rifle. Wether the rifle has been sande when it went thru rebuild or not is trivial. It is still a great find. Click on the link below and you see the photo. Click again and it will magnify the image.

I see what you mean, Sam. I just took the rifle apart for the first time and saw Winchester parts in the trigger grouping. Definitely a San Antonio Arsenal rebuild, but it's all part of the rifle's history.

As I said even with the Winchester parts and the light sandiing it's still a great find, They are getting very hard to find. Your is one of the better ones I have seen lately.

And now for the bayonet-the whole setup looks very impressive but you wouldn't want to carry it around all day as it's a heavy bastard combo!

The bayonet for the 17's are very dear. I hope you got a nice on with scabbard and it didn't cost you your first born son. LOL.

The scabbard on CG looks to be a reproduction,.................. although the pictures are not the best.

To me it just looks kind of beat up. I figured for the price it was worth a gamble. I'll keep you folks updated.

Man, that's one great looking rifle! There's one for sale here that I have been looking at for $699, but I just don't have the cash at the moment. It's one on my list though!
