Re: MARTINI HENRY MKII (Nepalese)
Hello Dave ,
Yes mate I was a Rifleman in B Coy 2 Para. I was at Goose Green and Wireles Ridge, we were the only Battalion to fight in two Battles.
Jones was with A Coy to our left when he was killed. Busy time.

Re: MARTINI HENRY MKII (Nepalese)
Thanks for your reply Jim,appreciated mate.
I can still see in my mind's eye (from the news and books etc,I was 16 in 1982) images of you blokes "Yomping" across the Island and being nearly pushed into the peat from the kit you were carrying. If only a couple more CH47'S were loaded onto a different ship (other than Atlantic C) .
Cheers to you Jim and the rest of your comrades in the Regiment.

Re: MARTINI HENRY MKII (Nepalese)
Thanks's mate,
I had my 21st birthday a few weeks before we set sail.
Just one thing we in the Parachute Regiment "TAB" as opposed to "YOMP"
Ours actually has a meaning "Tactical Advance To Battle" so Para Regt tabbed across the Island. The media mentions Yomped which is now in the Oxford dictionary.
YOMP has no actual meaning although Marines may try to say something different, this was identified at the time but YOMP stuck.

Re: MARTINI HENRY MKII (Nepalese)
Really nice Mk III. I also have a Martini Henry in about the same condition as yours with the original sling and Wilkerson Sword bayonet and scabbard. But it's a Nepalese Mk IV long lever dated 1886.
