Actually in 1944 all contracts for Portugal were absorbed by the German military and issued.
I have a 1937 dated one covered with waffen stamps. It was a war trophy brought home by a local man. I was able to get it from his daughter. Unfortunately he cut stock and drilled it for scope. But has a Great bore.
5th edition of Mauser rifles of the world by Robert Ball, has info on these nazi stamped rifles.
I would suggest getting this book, it has great photos and alot of info. I think I paid 37$ at the gun show recently.
It blows my 1st edition out of the water.
Great having a 98k. I notice that sight sure is different but stamped. Maybe required for export by ordering country? Nice to see some contract Mausers.
