Yes.
Its still considered a "handgun" here.
You need several licenses.

Pistols are no problem-so long as they are semi-automatic, but a Selective Fire gun is considered a Submachine gun and they then classify them as a Class 3 weapon. As such, they get pretty whiny about them. You need to go through a Class 3 dealers license Only and have to pay $200 for a "transfer tax" to the Federal Government every time the gun changes hands. In addition, you need to have local law authority permission to own it(depending on what state and city you live in, this can be real easy or a real pain in the butt) and have the weapon ready for inspection at any given time-generally with no warning ahead of time. Some states or cities such as New York City make it simple-you can't Have one under Any circumstances. And, of course, as the owner, you can have no criminal background at all-no matter how long the offense was ago. Just all sorts of "fun" stuff to do! lol

To transfer the Mauser M712 Schnellfeuer or any other Class III weapon you must fill out 2 Form 4's a Certificate Of Compliance, have 2 fingerprint cards made, supply 2 passport photos for the Form 4's, have your chief law enforce net officer OK it (Not necessary if you have a Firearms Trust) mail all of it to the BATFE in West Virginia with a $200 check for the transfer fee. At that point the FBI does a background check . Waiting time now 6-8 months for approval. This must be done every time a Class III weapon (select fire or full automatic) is bought and transferred to the buyer.

If you have a C 3 C&R license any C&R weapon (Fed's publish a booklet on them) which includes many Class III weapons can be transferred directly to the buyer without going thru a Class III or Class I dealer (for non Class III weapons ). Most of my weapons are C&R and were transferred directly to me.
