    Sorry for the terrible lighting I had.
    Unless I've gone blind I read that ser nr to be 9610 "b". If so then your P.38 is an early byf, Not a late production pistol. I say this because the byf 44 guns went into the "z" serial range.

    Mauser used the a & b code in December 0f 1944.
