It would appear that at some stage of its life it has been painted black. As to whether it has ever been used by the military it is difficult to say from the photographs provided.
I agree with harry.
Looks like a Spanish made 'Ruby' Browning M1903 clone-the grips do not look military.
It would be a nice candidate for a restoration project!

Your example looks like the "Martian" model, but is lacking the dome on the slide!...
Hello
thank you all for the help and info
I really appreciate it

Yep.... A Ruby. I have had some of these come into the shop over the years. Most of them didn't work very well. As far as military. I don't recall any being used as an issued firearm.

I specialize in M1 carbines and Lugers.
Spanish Rubys were used by the French army extensively in WW1-like most armies, they were desperate for more weapons as the great scale and length of the war ground on-they were also supplied to French allies/friendly countries after the war like Poland and Finland-they also remained in French use into WW2 and large numbers ended up in German use after 1940-quality of the pistols varied greatly and they were notorious for lack of interchangeability of parts as they were often made in small scale workshops that relied on individual hand fitting.
