Hello, I am getting a K98 rifle with the visible stamp on the barrel ar 43 and above that it appears to have stamped "469 or 42?"
what does the "469 or 42" stamp above the ar 43 stamp mean?
As I'm sure you know the ar is Mauser werkes,Borsigwalde bei Berlin, My question would be is there a little eagle(waffenampt) above the number you are speaking about???
A picture of what you are seeing WOULD REALLY HELP

Agree with Phil. Probably a lightly struck waffenampt. Is it much smaller than the other stamps?
And a picture would clear it up in a second.
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

photo?
I wish I could attach a photo, there is an eagle stamp above where the ar 43 is stamped (also stamped in the same piece, on the side is another eagle and the serial number 2534 and an a below it) On the section of barrel right behind the folding sight is the stamp "469 or 42" or it could be "469 ar 42" and another eagle stamp.
We wish we could help you...I wish I could attach a photo
