Nice rifle Dean. Tikkakoski is very near, where I'm from (Jyväskylä). Only about 20km there from the city.

You have a Finnish Civil Guard M28 rifle in a Finnish Army's M27 stock. This is not at all unusual, the Suojeluskunta (abbreviated "SY" or later Sk.Y) was heavily engaged along with the Finnish Army and when arms needed repair, they used what was available. Your rifle is a highly desireable collector's piece. See Vic Thomas's well researched article on the M28 at:

The M28 And M28/30 Civil Guards Rifles

It is part of Mosin-Nagant.net at:

Thank you very much USNV5 this is very helpful info for me and anyone else who owns one. This piece is the pride of my collection and she has been very spoiled this Mosin confused me when trying to ID it. It has the recess at the front of the stock for the bayonet stablizer , but never had one affixed. They noticed the stablizer was needed because, when stabbing and twisting, the stress often cracked the stock.
The dark patch in the wood at the left side below the bolt has always puzzled me. What caused such heat?
Aleksander, is the Tikka factory still there?

I haven't messed with her at all, except for adding a leather sling . I keep her oiled and in a soft case.
These have so many mysteries. I was lucky to have acquired it from a friend I bought a car from. This was in the trunk, and he said I could have it! He wouldn't take any extra cash but I forced him to. Years later, he wanted it back for reasons I felt were illogical. I'm glad I said " no". He doesn't understand the historical significance of this item. Instead, I gave him something he can toss around and beat up that doesn't matter as much.
This is an old thread so Ill post some higher quality, updated images soon
    Dean.

    Nice rifle Dean!
There is a lot of history in it, the butstock repaired
hopefully the burn is from a campfire brewing some coffee!
The old Civil Guard number has been struck out as it went into the Army "SA"
I love all my old Finnish firearms, knowing they were "in the s---" as we said in Iraq
I have a thrashed rebuilt Finn Luger, still shoots great, fine tuned and all
And I know it was on the belt of a machinegunner across the war
not in a train station in Bonn for 25 years
    The same with you rifle
