The part that mates with the bayonet lug. It goes on maybe 1/4 of the way and then just stops and doesn't go on any further...

I forgot to add that I picked up six of these enblock clips (4 brass, 2 steel) for a dollar each, and 60rnds of ammo. I am ready to shoot!

I just learned more about my rifle, so I thought I'd share. I posted pics and info on a forum dedicated to the Carcano. A well informed member of that forum said:

The FAT cartouche ( refurb for export) on the stock is remarkable & not often seen.

The en bloc clips that you have from 1924 and 1939 are rare. How they survived this long is a mystery. They were meant to be disposable. After shot #6, they fell from the rifle and were quickly replaced by another clip.

The "K" stamping on your rifle represents the steel vendor and it's one you just never see. In this case, K is for Kaldno, Czech Republic. Italy used a lot of ordnance and steel from the works at Skoda. There was also a foundry at Kladno. That was the Poldi steel foundry which is shown on Carcano rifles as PO. Yours is the only one I've ever seen.
