As long as we're on the subject, I thought I'd share mine. Was at the range today and took some pics. My reciever was made in july of 1944 by Springfield Armory, the barrel was replaced, it's marked S-A-5-50. I replaced the rear sight bar with the proper Type 3 lock bar, and the trigger guard with the proper sramped part for this date. The op rod has the ww2 rounded side, so outwardly, it looks close to what it did when it left the factory. I decided to hold on to this one after I saw the prices at the last gun show, plus I wanted one for a display I'm working on for my dads time in service. I had to resize the pics, so I apologize if they aren't as clear.
the proof mark is still thre, but the inspectors cartouche is long gone
the stock is pretty beat up from handling mostly, but it looks like it's been through some stuff, that's what I like about it.
