(( Were there any jokes thrown on the way back ???? "Whose got the heaviest foot locker" etc))
'The Empire Strikes Back...' I was 21 at the time and in our army reserve-there was no internet, facebook or twitter (those were the days) only the BBC World service for info!
A fascinating collection.
Gary,
There are two short swords in the photos. They were machete's but we called them Trench Swords. One is German manufacture but the more collectible of the two is the Argentine made copy.
Who is your brother in law Dave?
Farrar Hockley was OC A Coy when I was in B Coy.
I know quite a few lads in A Coy at the time let me know his name.
A good collection Mr Para... that was the main reason for me joining the Army was the Falklands....Thanks for sharing...Terry.
Thanks for sharing your pictures and memories, Para.
This one made me scratch my head:Argentine FAL SLR : Semi Auto Rifles at GunBroker.com
They probably meant to write Falklands SLR not Argentine SLR -
Although from some after accounts there was almost an Argentine assault element to that conflict - with a covert air/land attack on Leopoldo Fortunato Galtieri Castelli's residence?
I have read it in two auto-biographys now so it must be true, lol.
Pit.
