Article about: Maybe some of the experts on here can help me out with what I have. I picked this up a number of years ago, when i removed some of the post war Yugo paint I found a circle with a bird in it

standard ww2 made drum,(post war yugo overpaint of course) the 40 indicates 1940 made, the symbol will be a german maker mark of some company, the numbers indicated it was matched with an M.G, most lilkly mg34. the spring loaded door was a waffenmeister modification to make loading quick. quite rare to find this modification

Thanks Phil! I was hoping it was a German drum! I think this is the only one i have with a serial number on it. Also tanks for the information on the spring loaded door, I actually have two of them that came as a pair on a carrier. They were sold to me as "Yugo drums on a Yugo carrier". The carrier was 1940 dated and waffempt'ed with these unusual drums so i guess i lucked out.

sorry i disagree that the O.P drum is fake!! it is a nice early one that was modified by Waffenmeister by removing its standard slide dust cover and fitting the spring loaded type! this has been documented.
