I have fired the Stirling quite a few times and often wondered how it compared to the Sten, If as I suspect from the quoted post its housed in a military armoury I hope you get the chance to try it out on the range.

I loved my Stirling and my SLR before being given the thing the military have now!

Great weapons, Used to have to keep them in my sleeping bag when on exercise, The OC had an annoying habit of trying to walk off with the personal weapons of sleeping soldiers.

Robin...I know exactly the type of OC you are writing about.
It is very secure Totenhead...

Anyway following on from this thread, I won't start a new one. But here is one I was given earlier.
(This one is deactivated now)
It came from an old vet who had it cased in an old British canvas rifle case.
It was pretty ropey so I decided to clean it up after it had paid a visit to the armourer to have the barrel welded and cut and FNA welded up.
When I stripped the wooden furniture off low and behold there was a bullet lodged beneath the barrel.
The photo shows the entrance hole.
What a story that must have been.
