your mags are correct for this weapon,,,jvd is a commonly encountered mag

I think your mag is a Mauser produced mag. Is it marked with P-38V? Here is a photo I had saved of some Walter variations. I'm not sure where I saved the photo from.

Yes, it is functional, it shoots very nice, it was just luck i found this one.
