BCD is known for using multiple different barrels, from different locations. Example, my BCD is marked VA which is an unknown factory.

Here are my three 98k mausers.
I am not sure what the EJ and the DOT 13 (inside the shield) means. Anyone know?
The 2 are vet bring backs.
The other was imported by Century Arms in the 1990's. I have never shot the Israeli k98 cause I have heard the they can't handle the pressure of the 308. But I am not sure if I believe them as I have know several folks who have used 98 receivers to make big game rifles.
But the other 2 shot great.

Do my best Popeye. Your DOT 44 was produced by Waffen Werke Brunn in 1944. Barrel has code from barrel maker and the DOT shield on barrel. Sling tab looks original. Mine is marked L&F for Linden and Funke but I cannot find yours in my book. Subcontractors were used for many parts and barrels. Hope this helps a little. Thanks for posting.

I'm adding pictures of my first and thus far only 98K to your great thread. All matching recent pickup for $650.

It is my first WWII German Mauser and I don't know much about it. It appears to be arsenal refinished and unfired since. Paid $250 US. Any thoughts or info?

It's a nice Russian capture (see the "X" stamp) it didn't look like anything was forced matched and the stocks not slathered down with shellac. Sounds like a good deal for a nice capture rifle! Let us know how she shoots!

RC-captured by the Soviets and refurbished by them after WW2-they restocked it as it has a later cupped butt plate and stamped nose cap-not original to a 1939 made action-243 is the maker code for Mauser Werke Borsigwalde. Most minor parts won't match as the Soviets reassembled the rifles with out bothering to match serial numbers of parts-they just wanted a serviceable rifle to put into storage in case of WW3. Most were sold off in the 1990s to make quick cash after the fall of the USSR.

Hello Everyone. I recently acquired my Grandfathers BYF 45 Sporterized All matching (as far as I can tell) K98 and was wondering where I should REFERENCE to restore it? They took the rear sights off and replaced it with a Lyman peep. Any good project forums I can reference? Also is a 45 oberndorf unusual? Ive only seen 44 and older. Not a Russian Capture as far I can tell.

    Ill post pics soon.
