I'm looking at adding a Panzerschreck to my collection but, as always, I thought I'd do a bit of history checking first.

Were panzerschrecks only made during WW2 or were there post war manufacture and usage? I've seen some for sale without foresights and complete triggerguards.

    Any help appreciated.

As far as I know, the "stove pipe" type were only made upto 1945.The post war Bundeswehr also had a Panzerschrek, but this was the same in name only.
The one that I have was dug up outside Munich, buried in a large arms dump in 1945.

Hi John, this is correct, only wartime made.

Many on the market today are ex Finnish Army. These saw post war use.

I should add that the Panzerschreck has been reproduced. The now defunct company "GMAX" used to make copies some years ago and they are also now made in the Czech Republic. These are not designed to fool, being made for the re-enactor market. But they could take in the unwary.

    Cheers, Ade.
