Hey Lithgow nice finnish nagant! I should have picked one of those up a few years ago when they were still cheap here in the U.S. I heard they use two different types of wood on those a European Walnut and a Birch that is a light blonde. Yours looks light but its hard to tell. Some of them have beautiful stocks with lots of marbling in the walnut.
Hello soalebm-Finnish made stocks are all Arctic Birch-it's what grows there-Mahogany and Walnut of various types was used on some of the Russian rifles that entered Finnish service by being captured, bought or traded from other users after WW1-the late 1930s onwards made Finnish (including m/39) stocks are stained with a dye that makes them darker than the natural wood colour.
PS As i dare say you know your m/91 is a US made WW1 Russian contract example stocked in Black Walnut.
