Article about: As mentioned the mag is a Orange Arsenal made mag, which would have been issued in a Lee Enfield No.1 Mk3 from 1942 ish onwards. The number 4 on the spine denotes it as a Mk4 mag which was t

    Hello all,

    Would anyone be able to tell me a little more about this magazine? Any idea of what time period this one came from?

    Joshua, as for the OA stamp, signifies Australian made, in the second largest factory, the Orange Rifle factory No.3, Government owned, that made parts, rifle barrels and bayonets, from 1942 and on...

    Interesting that. Remind me how easy it is to remove the magazine on the .303. I remembering firing it as an army cadet in the early 70's. The kick was lpke a mule, really blackened shoulders even with a beret stuffed inside the shirt. I wonder why they opted for the recharging of the magazine off clips, 2 up 3 down, when it would have been just as quick to change the mag? Cost perhaps.
