Nice M38 carbine TC. I passed on a few of these in the years passed. Took the cheap price for granted, now the m38s have more than doubled, as have all Mosin Nagant style rifles. This one must have been one of the last ones produced because in 1944 the Soviets adopted the M44 carbine ( the one with the folding bayonet attached).

Nice carbine, but compared to the full length rifle they kick a little.

Meant for troops who were mounted on horseback or vehicles or were sipecialists like signallers as the standard 91/30 was a very long weapon by WW2 standards-always a bit of a puzzle why the Soviets didn't adopt a short rifle length weapon when the MN was redesigned in the late '20s when Britain and the US had such short rifles well before WW1.

    Another Nice one TC.
    Is this a arsenal refurb?
I can just make out the import stamp C.A. Is this a Century Arms import?
I've shot the M44 but have never shot one of these.
I would imagine it has the same Mule Kick like its later cousin?

Nice 38. I bought a slip on recoil pad for my 44 which makes it far gentler on my shoulder. I love seeing the fireballs these produce when you shoot them at night.

Alot of the period photographs of these that I've seen show them slung over the shoulders of soldiers on crew served weapons, especially mobile AT or light artillery weapons. That's a pretty short barrel for 7.62X54R, but it is what it...was. The ones I owned were never as accurate as the full length M91/30s. Just my experience.
