Well, as they belong to the museum collectors can not have them anyway. So if they unweld them does it make situation better? I do not belive any museum would like to have 200 German mausers in their collection, matching numbers or not. I have seen in Croatia a sculpture where there were even Stgw-s.

They can always sell some to collectors like us

Signed too. Although as an art work I think they are making a statement and pretty safe but if left neglected or discarded in some damp basement then that would be a disaster.

Mark, the reason they are so dark is because they are covered in dust. My friend who was there (he's a gun collector) says they haven't been looked after for a long time though they are surprisingly in good nick
