The British or dependents would never cut the end of the barrel off like that, and they've also machined off the Bayonet lugs too. The Drill Purpose rifle was used to train service men in the use of the rifle rather than for parade practice which was a secondary use. It makes no sence to remove such a small section unless someone 'Sporterised' the rifle and then someone else fitted DP marked wood to it to bring it back to almost standard. If it is a DP rifle, all the downgraded parts will be marked 'DP' especially the action body and bolt. Can you see any DP markings on the metal work?
