Nice find. I like Smith & Wesson's
Nice condition. What caliber 38 is it? Have you been able to date it from the numbers?

It's a .38 s&w and from my google-fu, I found out it's from may of '43. It also hasn't been modified for .38 special (which is apparently common) so that's good.
38 S&W is, indeed, seldom seen. Generally, you will encounter either 38 Specials or 38/200's if they are a British issued piece. I've always liked the little 38 S&W shorts, as they will not explode the pistol in your face if the pieces have grown weaker or flawed over the years! I've got a little top-break S&W Lemon Squeezer around the house somewhere here and it's actually pleasant to shoot! (Although, the shells are getting tougher to find nowadays)The WWII date of yours is an added bonus! Nice find, by any standards!

I found a box of .38 s&w at the same gun show for about $34. Kind of expensive compared to online prices (what isn't?) But it's nice to have a box laying around.
a nice gun.
