I have referred above to the 'top-side' DT, meaning one mounted for AA purposes on top of the turret. The DTs were used in three positions: as co-axial turret guns (note a bbl with muzzle ferrule sticking out of the gun mantle in the frontal view photo of the T-26 below), as turret mounted 'flexible' or 'top-side' AA gun, usually with the AA ring sight and sometimes with a flash hider, and in machine gun ball mounts - bow guns of the T-34, Komsomolets armored tractor, armored cars (BA-6, BA-10) or in turret rear (T-26 obr. 37, BT-5/7, KV series, T-28, T-35, SMK), or as turret gun (BT-2, T-26 obr. 31, T-37/38, T-28 and T-35 secondary turrets).
