OK Guys, this is my final item to share with you.

A PU telescopic sight and mounting bracket. This example dates from 1943. It is my intention to buy a former sniper rifle and rebuild it using this scope.

I hope that you have enjoyed my thread?

I will add any new additions I get in the future.

    Cheers, Ade.
Would this scope be used strictly for the 90/31 or would it be possible for the 1938 carbine? also where does one find these scopes?
    thanks

These scopes were never fitted to the Carbine, only the M91/30 rifle.

Repro scopes can be found on E bay. Originals are harder to find.

    Cheers, Ade.

Hi Petr, yes a few SKS's were trialed in the Battle for Berlin. These very early versions had spike bayonets like used on the Mosin Nagant.

The PTRS is my favourite too

    Cheers, Ade.

    Hello Ade,
I think you will be the man to sort out this little conundrum? I have a very battle weary Mosin Nagant. It's a deac because well past it's 'use by date'. Among it's many scars I;ve arrowed a couple of bayonet/knife imprints which seem to indicate hand to hand fighting?
My question is; There are many marks stamped into the metalwork, which I can photograph for you if it's any help but I'm curious about the oriental looking 'brand mark' on the stock. If you look carefully there are also other unusual trace marks on the stock, they look like painted marks which have been removed. Could these be Korean, Chinese, etc. etc. or perhaps Double Dutch! Am I missing something obvious?
I've wondered about this for years but was prompted to write after another member posted a question about Mosin Nagants today.
    Best regards,
    Guy.

Hi Guy, the branded marks are Chinese. A lot of these rifles came into the UK via WorldWide Arms. All were really well used. Forum member Reg has loaned my book on the Mosin Nagant Rifles at the moment. I cannot recall now if this gives any more details about the markings?

This kind of mark can also be found on Chinese Mausers.

    Cheers, Ade.
