    Hi,
It looks like a smooth bore, like a 410, nice pistol though.

Hi, In New Zealand they had a similar pistol that was popular upto the 1970s comonly called the Kea Gun & was a 410 shotgun with a pistol grip & the pistol was around 12 inches in length. Below are some links to a few pics of Kea guns

Interesting piece, it reminds me of a very similar gun on a farm that I worked on when I was a kid. It was American I think, a Harrington & Richardson, and as rusty as hell, with loads of headache.

    Hi Dave,

Cooeys are great! My first ever 12 bore was a Cooey, 30" full choked hammer gun could knock down ducks and geese on Belvide rezzer at amazing heights, good for long range squirrels on the hoof too! I remember it cost me £19, I could of had a BSA Snipe for £15, but the Cooey was an ejector!

    Regards, Ned.

Although not identical it's similar the the Remington 'rolling block' pistols of the late 1860s and 70s-heavy calibre (Remington .5" rimfire) and a transitional type before metal cartridges were available for revolvers (much easier to reload than cap and ball black powder cylinders)-11mm approx is a calibre common in Europe around then (Reichs revolver m1879 10.55mm and French m1870, 1873 and 1874 model revolvers in 11mm.
