I believe these Mills holsters were adopted, or at least used in quantity, by the Canadian forces of WW1 for their M1911's?

That M3 is nice. I had never seen a Sears M3. Your 42 Colt is looking mighty fine as well. Nice stuff. Here's a picture of my 42 Colt. Unfortunately if has a replacement slide from 43 but I still really like this pistol.
