Funny that this gets bumped the same day I make an addition to my colletion of Civil War firearms.

I just received a Remington New Model Army .44 percussion revolver, commonly (and incorrectly) referred to as the Model 1858 due to its patent date, though it actually entered production in 1863. The Remington was the 3rd most popular revolver in use during the Civil War, after the Colt 1851 and 1860, and was probably the best of the lot - it's top strap allowed the use of a proper rear sight, and made the gun much stronger. They were issued alongside the Colt 1860 in the early postwar era before being replaced by the famous Colt 1873 Single Action Army.

Mine is far from the nicest condition gun I own, but I've been wanting a Remington for awhile and this one is complete, original, functional and was priced right, so I jumped on it. I'm surprised to find it has a pretty decent bore and locks up like a vault, so it could even be shootable.
