Hi guys, I know this forum is not specialised on firearms, but anyway, maybe some of you know...

I decided to buy italian Beretta 1934/5 and got an offer for one with german markings - WaA617. The strange thing is that I could not google this marking at all.
This is the only relevant link I could find Re: WaA 617 -? IDG - Allegro.pl - aukcje internetowe, bezpieczne zakupy.

Does anyone know about WaA617? Thanks!

I want the pistol because I like it (and because it is cheap, not because of any German markings so it does not mean that much to me. But...

Thanks. I know (or at least that is what I found out on the internet - and from several sources). The guy asks a low price for it, so it is not that he wants to make his gun "rare" or something like that (which always implies higher price..). I don't think he made it up or faked it, that is why I am curious about this one

Bill is correct, I can find no WaA617 that was marked on any German used pistol. Closest is WaA613 found on some Browning Hi-Powers. You should re-check with this fellow, and have him send pics of what he has. Regards, Steve

Hi, this marking rings a bell with me. I cannot now find where I read about it, but I am certain the marking is bad. Sorry I cannot help with more than that.

    Cheers, Ade.

The picture shows a PISTOLA BERETTA dated 1941 with italian marks of production and use (for Regio Esercito). The germanic symbols (not clearly visible indeed) could have been posted after 1943 when a huge amount of these pistols were sized by the german army. Maybe the mark is likely an ispective mark.

As noted these are really freaking bogus german proofs. It's a shooter and thus should be valued as such , that is about zero collecting value for a refinished and boinkered with marked peice.
