Walther P-38 "AC 42"

I've had this fine pistol for awhile now. The craftsmanship of Walther "AC's" are impeccable. This particular pistol was used a lot from the wear on the grips and handle. Be nice to track down who this belonged too. Pre-43 AC's are getting harder to find and the value reflects it. I have no history on this piece at all. All numbers match, sharp working order, and a smooth action. Hope you enjoy the pics:

Wow! Damn nice looking Walther P 38 Octavian. Nice shape and made by Walther. Make sure you do not dry fire it as the firing pin could possibly break or crystallize. Read this in a copy of Shooting Times a few years back. Mind if I ask what you paid for it ? Last one I saw in nice shape at a gun store was $1000. Have myfather-in-laws Kar 98k he brought back from Belgium or France and its all matching. Worth at least $1200 or more. Grab as much of this Nazi stuff as you can afford. Keeps going up in value. Thanks Mauser! I paid 400 bucks for it in the late 1990s. Yeah, this pistol has skyrocketed in price. Pre-43s "AC's" are the cats meow for Walther Buffs. And you are very correct about dry firing. That can damage any double action semi-automatic pistol. You can get a away with that on a revolver, but not recommended.

Its a shame it has an import stamp. otherwise it looks great

Yeah, that's how it goes, but still a nice piece i might say. Price was right and a good shooter

Does the magazine have a number and does it match the gun?

The proof markings has the same number as on the body of the gun.

Which is as it should be! But does the bottom plate of the magazine also have a serial number? Some did-some didnt. Nice AC, btw!

I sure haven't seen any numbers on the bottom plate. Just a proof marking on the backside of the clip.

Very nice pistol. $400 was a really good price too, IMO.........
