I agree. I have one also. Much German booty was used by other countries after the war.

Definitely Israeli stamp, found on virtually all equipment and arms they used. I have had several 98k's over the years the Israeli's converted to .308 which have several of these stamps on them. Interestingly Israel made their own 98k slings, just like the German originals but have this stamp on the buckle within a circle vice within a Star of David. The vast majority of LP-42's I've seen in the last 10 years or so were imported from Israel and these marks are fairly common.
