These were first issued to the 101st airborne, for the D-Day invasion! They have always been one of my favorite WWII weapons. this one has all the correct EARLY parts. mainly the original, not reproduction folding stock. when you see these they often have been changed over to more modernized rear sight, bayo lug and two rivet upper forearm. the weapon often was used for other application besides it initial "paratrooper" use.

    thanks tom !

some other things that will tell. most repos are obvious. I had one many years ago that was a real good repo even had the high wood, but it did not have these characteristics of the originals. at one time my pops and I had alot of em. he was a big fan of the M1 carbine. Larry Ruth's book "war baby" is a decent reference

but plate construction with casting marks
correct rivets and leather on cheek piece
pistol grip and folder contruction(nice-n-tight) with correct marks on the bottom and inside the forearm, which originals are high wood

    just to name a few...

    thanks gentleman !

Very nice! A little piece inside of me dies every time I see a deactivated war veteran.

I have an IBM carbine that saw use in WW2, Korea, maybe Vietnam, and then it was used by the Israeli's. I love it! So fun to shoot.

They are a blast to shoot and extremely reliable. they are great for what they were intended,a multi purpose close range carbine. high volume of fire power and light load out. I use to back pack with one,for those reasons.
