Deer is the largest game we have to hunt here in Missouri.
So not sure on other state laws, I only hunt on my 35 acres and do not have to pay for a deer tag.
The state gives me what is called a Farm tag or(land owners tag).
I must say I have harvested many deer with this gun and is my fav.
I have also had success with my Nagant and K98 and Arisaka and my Brit 303 But I like the SKS best.
I am not the average hunter around here as most have scoped 700 Win mag or so, I like the open sight challenge.

You mention your Nagent Eric, what model is it? The biggest quarry I have hunted are rabbits and wood pigeons, the latter being a canny foe ! haha
Martin:
Here are my SKS's I have on the wall of my office in my Gun shop. One is a New 1949 date. Russian, One is my New unissued "Yugo", The last one is a Chinese model I picked up in 1980. it has a factory conversion to AK magazine. It has a 40rd. magazine in it. I have shot this one.
I just thought they were odd so I kept them for my office.
Years ogo when the chinese imports were going on I use to buy these by the case of 5 or 10 at a time when I could buy them for 150.00 each. Sold a lot of them to farmers to keep on their tractors and combines. They were cheap back then.
Thanks,
John

The Russian is just like my hunter rifle.
The stock is in the closet but the gas tube is orig in my deer pic.
I like the look of the wood on these so I try to protect it.
